As the eldest son of William V and Wilhelmina of Prussia, his regal lineage is evident even in his childhood portrait. Interestingly, this miniature was previously identified as Willem George Frederik, another member of the Orange-Nassau family. However, further research has revealed its true subject to be the future king himself. This discovery adds historical significance to this remarkable piece.
