Oakes Majorette Corps, on their first outing of the season, retained the North of England Majorette Championship at Huddersfield Sports Centre. The Troupe, fronted by Drum Maj Anne-Marie Rainey, is pictured with prizes. Over 1, 000 majorettes from all over the North took part in the all-day event. Overall winners Oakes gained first place in six sections ? dress, colourguard, lead drum, drum section, cymbals and brass. Other Kirklees troupes taking part included Colne Valley Eagles, Dewsbury Rose and Thornhill Lees Militaries. The event was organised by Outlane Drum Majorettes and sponsored by Crockatt Cleaning, whose sales Manager, Mr John Savage, presented trophies. 20th April 1986
