Peter Collinson (1694-1768), English botanist. Collinson, a draper by trade, introduced many plants from North America to England. He built a large personal plant collection that he kept at his home in Mill Hill, London. As well a maintaining an extensive correspondence with leading scientists of the time, Collinson was also a founding Governor of the Foundling Hospital in London
