Mitosis. Fluorescence micrograph of a cell in telophase of mitosis (nuclear division)
Mitosis. Fluorescence micrograph of a cell in telophase of mitosis (nuclear division). Telophase is the last stage of mitosis before cytokinesis (cellular division). The chromosomes, made of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA, white and pink), have been separated and moved to opposite poles of the cell. They were moved by microtubules (blue), which are part of the cells cytoskeleton. The energy required by the microtubules to move the chromosomes was provided by mitotic kinase enzymes (green). A nuclear envelope will reform around each nucleus before cytokinesis begins
