LCC-LFB, Cannon Street fire station, City of London
The Cannon Street fire station was opened in 1906. Seen here is the appliance room. Fire brigade horses were by now being replaced by motorised fire appliances, but the stalls for the horses which pulled the horse drawn turntable ladder can be seen behind the electric-driven escape van. The batteries for this escape-van were stored under the engines bonnet and the fire engine weighed about two tons. The power driven pump and pump-escape and horse drawn turntable ladder await the next call
