Pierre-Auguste Renoir Young Girl Hat Jeune fille au chapeau
Pierre-Auguste Renoir: Young Girl with Hat (Jeune fille au chapeau), Pierre-Auguste Renoir, c. 1893, Oil on canvas, Renoir loved to paint his models wearing hats and bonnets. He put heaps of them on my head, one model reported. He took me to the milliners shops; he never ceased buying lots of hats. Renoir painted these accessories continually, even after his dealer, Durand-Ruel, advised him that hats were going out of fashion and that his works might sell better if he didn t include them. In this canvas, the hat seems more the focus of attention than the woman wearing it. Overall: 16 5/16 x 13 in. (41.5 x 33 cm)

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases Pierre-Auguste Renoir's masterpiece, "Young Girl with Hat (Jeune fille au chapeau)". Painted in 1893, this oil on canvas piece reflects Renoir's love for capturing his models adorned with hats and bonnets. One model even recalled how he would pile heaps of them on her head during their sessions together. The artist's fascination with these accessories was so profound that he would take his models to milliners shops and purchase numerous hats. Interestingly, despite being advised by his dealer, Durand-Ruel, that hats were falling out of fashion and excluding them might improve the sales of his works, Renoir continued to paint these accessories relentlessly. In this particular artwork, the hat takes center stage rather than the woman wearing it. The attention is drawn towards its intricate details and vibrant colors. Measuring at 16 5/16 x 13 inches (41.5 x 33 cm), this print from the Liszt Collection allows art enthusiasts to appreciate Renoir's skillful brushwork up close. It captures the essence of a time when fashionable headwear played a significant role in women's attire while showcasing Renoir's ability to infuse life into every stroke.
